I Fought for a Fishing Rule Change & Won!
Good info......enjoy your happy presentation.😊
I run "king" rods. *Proceeds to lift up an ocean bottom fishing rod.
It's a Shimano Trevala jigging rod but light power. Its actually a great all around salmon, tuna, and bottomfish rod. Too each their own plus its short which makes netting easy on the kayak,
I heard you buy wd-40 by the case...🫣
I don't even know what this means?
I was kidding. People used to say that if you spray wd-40 on your lures and flashers youd catch more fish.
Around 40 years ago, my Brother took me to Lake Wenatchee for some Sockeye. when we got set up there was only a single red hook on the line. No bait, no nothing but that single red hook. I asked him if this is really how we are going to spent our day, dragging around an empty hook, he said wait for it. Wasn't long before I was a believer. That was fun, no having to worry about bait or anything, just take the hook out of the fish and throw in back in the water.
I live in Erie, and our steelhead look quite similar to the rainbow you caught......until they enter the streams and creeks in the fall, they turn really dark, allowing them to blend in better with their new surroundings. Once they go back to the lake in the spring, they change back to pre-spawn color.
Have you ever fish Eleven mile reservoir in Colorado? If so, any recommendations?
No I’ve not
Thank you, for another good video. Your "Title" for this video is, "Is more flash more better?"!! I think you meant to write, "Is more flash better?" I mean considering the basic grammar.
It was a purposeful use of poor grammar,
Heading to brewester on Tuesday why is it so hard to find the catch limits drive me nuts man?? For sockeye and Chinook...
Its not. Its in the fishing regulations pamphlet.
Great information! How is the walleye fishery in this pool? I heard you mention a long sand bar in the lake which made me think of the walleye. Thanks, Craig
The walleye fishing is not great. They are there but hard to find
Copy that. If you’re ever down in the Eugene - Lookout Point area again and need a place to stay give us a holler. I did not realize how far you have to travel to fish there. We have plenty of room and would love to host you and discuss all things walleye. We love hitting the Columbia from Celilo east to Irrigon. Craig and Laura
Did they close the Columbia?
Below Tri-cities only
what Wyoming lake were you fishing on?
Thank you SO much for posting this. HUGE help!!!
Do stinger hooks work in your area? Also, at those depths, do you have issues with their bladders when releasing?
Yes stingers work and yes I generally harvest all fish brought up from deeper than 40' because of the bladder issues.
@@spiltmiltThanks for the info. Would love to fish there but a bit of a drive from NW Indiana. 😊
I am wondering on the duo snaps are those a #6?
That must have felt great! Amazing fishing!
that’s super lame of a shop to try and profit off of a already free chart you supply. greedy people
If such a nuisance fish why letting go ugh thought no catch limit ?
Because I have no use for them and just throwing dead fish on the bank or back in the water violates the law
Are you going to come back over to baker this year? The best tim is within the first 2 weeks
No I don’t have the time this year
Wonderful content. Appreciate your time you've put into compliling these very helpful tables! Chase big trout and mackinaw in my area too. Curious if youll put out a depth chart table for 2.0 to 2.5 mph with cannon balls up to 6 oz?
Have you gone to baker lake during the week? Was it more tolerable midweek or similar to weekend boat traffic?
It’s busy pretty much everyday
Heading up to Baker Lake in July do you use this type of LED system on a peddle powered kayak?
No reason you couldn’t
@spiltmilt The regs are clear as mud as to what's required. White 360 min I guess.
Minimum is a 360 light yes
Has WDFW posted the closure rule for kings? I've been trying to find it off and on today with no luck.
Its in the 2025/25 regs book.
@@spiltmilt thank you. I forgot that the rule book starts well after open water season starts.
Great video. Interested in trout trolling with a baitcaster vs spinning reel. Any recommendations on rod/reel, length and action? Thx so much
I prefer baitcaster or levelwind as its easier to let line out. As for rod length and action generally 6 to 7'6" medium to medium light is recommended.
Was looking at the Bonneville dam fish counts. About 32000 fish passed today, 448014 total. How far into the run do you think we are? Love the content. Thanks for the tips.
My guess is we are passed the peaked but not by much. I def feel the fish came earlier this year due to lower flows.
flex or semi flex Victorinox?
so which one is the best?
Will 2/0 luhr Jensen herring dodgers that are 5 3/4" work or should I find something a little larger for this fishery?
2/0 will work fine
I just got a helix 7 gen 4, with mega si and mega di, and can't get on side imaging? It's not on the sonar tab? Any ideas?
What part of the Columbia are you fishing, if I can ask
Thanks for answering my questions. The logistics of getting out fishing are hard… so I need to do my homework to get the most out of the limited time.
Maybe I am missing it but I don't see a link for the 'I go one step further" double ball rod holder track-link. I have tried searching it and can't find it on RAM. Is that a standard product or did you combine/modify other products? Just got into kokanee and your videos are great(still have not caught one...).
Have you tried a 360 flasher with the hoochie or spinner rig for sockeye?
Yes I discuss that specifically in the video
As always thanks for the good info. I noticed that you are using bead chains on your lure leaders. Are you doing that now on your kokanee set ups as well?
Not yet
I would definitely throw some padding on there.
I think the EPDL will mostly help to sell their autopilot and pdl models. As the onboard any inventory, I’m sure that they will discount it to be priced slightly higher than the autopilot.
I love fishing this lake! Tigers are pretty fun to catch. Will you be fishing Bonaparte this summer (2024)?
Not sure yet
I just got my riggs tied up. Orange, florescence pink, light pink. Pink/Glow hoochies with variations of plain, smile blades, and spinner blades. I’m excited. I got the 22-24 reserved for camp but I might have to sneak in a day trip or two before that.
Going to be my first year going to Brewster. thank you for giving us the knowledge to succeed!!
Would you consider doing a video on Maxkinaw? I know you primarily focus on salmon, but looking at chasing some lake trout at Bear Lake and could use your expertise. Thanks so much for what you do for the community.
Hey I got a decent video showing how to catch Mackinaw. ua-cam.com/video/P3OsQGQ6t4w/v-deo.htmlsi=3oKLa3WgLzsFg0XG But that’s at lake Chelan hope that helps.
ua-cam.com/video/P3OsQGQ6t4w/v-deo.htmlsi=3oKLa3WgLzsFg0XG
Diminutive, great word but I definitely had to google that one 😂.
Do you actually have pheasants or is he a wild one? I used to raise jumbo ringnecks, they were alot of fun.
Wild
When you mention leader length, where are you measuring? From the beginning of the bead chain all the way to the end of the hooks, or what?
Acquired a new fishfinder for my kayak. Just curious. The cable terminals that connect to the head/display unit. Do you use/do anything to provide additional protection from corrosion? I've heard mixed messages about dielectric grease. Thanks!
I use a very light coating of dielectric grease and it def helps with keep corrosion away in the salt
@@spiltmilt, thanks! Appreciate it!
Thank you once again for your time to make this video. It's very informative and helps me better prepare myself for my next fishing trip!
I am so stoked to head to baker this year. Thanks for the video!
Sweet water OK, saltwater not so much…
Nicely done, good looking fish for sure
Looks like you need to put a little weight on in preparation for the ice fishing season !
Ha I’m hoping to dump 10 more for a race in the fall. It’s gonna be tough winter on the ice 🥶
